Serious answer: it didn't, but the reason for these discoveries is because Canada has some of the oldest surviving rocks on Earth. Since this was in Quebec, it's 99% likely to have been discovered in the Canadian Shield, which is somewhat exposed bedrock dating back billions of years, largely undisturbed by tectonic plate activity (although when it originally formed, it was very mountainous).
