I don't see any of that in the comics. I think what they're conveying is that because of mandatory conscription there's a bunch of people who don't give a shit and so they just fool around and don't do much.

No, people just stop giving a shit after a few years, especially if they're close to getting out.

Even here there are a lot of regulations and shit they they teach you to follow and nobody really does later on, and nobody really cares besides a few sticklers. People do a lot of small things against uniform regulation but nobody cares. A lot of it is just nitpicky shit but people get looney if it's just the boys and your superiors are cool

This is a lie, it is worse to be an officer and even worse to be a specialist, and you can be good friends with both unless you or they are complete social failures as human beings. It is more educational and cultural gaps that are prominent. For example, you will see JC-educated officers, specialist and men hanging out together and Poly/ITE bengs of all ranks associating. And of course the Malays will stick to themselves
