that's true, but that's the "downside" when you have a strong, secure state and a society with very little cultural leeway. Most swiss live for their workplace and there's really not much else.
The good thing is that you never have to worry about things like stolen car stereos, "no go areas" in cities or thieves braking into your apartement, because such things almost never happen.

that's one of the biggest memes of all. The reason there are so many weapons is that every soldier is free to store his personal rifle at home. Given that we have mandatory service, almost every young man age 18-35 has an army rifle lying around, even if he never make use of it outside of the annual army trainings.
