some tips for a first-timer:

And defaulting on their loans would lower their credit ranking, unabling them to take up new loans, necessary for Japan's economy to function at it's current state.

One OK Rock just got signed by Fueled by Ramen (Fallout Boy/21 Pilots), and Japanese music is generally getting more popular with more concerts. The Pokemon Go craze was one of the craziest things I've ever seen. Man did that sure come and go. I think it was because of how shallow the game was. I don't think so. I think in America mainstream interest in Japan peaked in the 1990s. Anyone who was alive at that time can recognize Pikachu, Goku, or Mario. There are new shows that are popular in the US like One Punch Man and Attack on Titan, but that is limited to people already wired into the "geek" anime/video game internet culture. I think awareness that these new properties even exist drops off precipitously among those over 25 years old. Maybe this will change in the future, but I don't think new Japanese properties are penetrating into mainstream culture like they did 20 years ago. It's not necessarily a bad thing though, god knows we could use fewer normalfags shitting up the hobby.
