Sometimes they reuse some parts or try to. In Calgary Alberta they use the ski jumps created to help train future Olympic athletes and the snow hill they created for skiing is still used by locals this day.

I heard some of the Vancouver Olympic stuff got torn down or re purposed to other uses. Russia wanted Soshi to become a sort of resort town but I don't know how that's going.

It's usually expensive to upkeep that kind of stuff so lots of countries just abandon it. I think winter sports extend the Olympic areas life because tourists can use it while Summer sports aren't really future tourist friendly. Olympic pools aren't really made with tourists in mind.

Very few olympic sites were used after the games.The only exclusions are I can think off are Atlanta and Sochi.

For the most part we did, as I said, that pic of the Olympic pool is a recent one, and its still in good condition and in use, the main venue was pic related, and it has concerts or other events every week or month
But the things that had to be demolish at least they could sold the land, and its better than having them in ruins for everyone to see, and yeah costs are absurd, we had a tax to pay for that until recently, also, some states still pay for it

Ours just get added to the federal and provincial deficit which fucks us in the long run. Usually some new taxes appear while the Olympics is going on though. I kind of wish we'd stop hosting them. They cost too much and there's no real benefit to it.

All the venues which are abandoned belong to a single firm called Odebrecht, which is deep involved into our corruption probes.
