Br Portuguese is 18th century patrician Portuguese. Read classic Portuguese literature and you will see they use gerund as much as we do.

podemos mas a diferença entre V e B desapareceu com o tempo e soam iguais agora ao contrario do Pretogues, algumas linguas ainda tem a mesma diferencia de pronunciação como por exemplo em catalão a J é como em Portugues.
