Agriculture can be done more efficiently with technology. One indoor vertical aero/hydroponic farm can supply a whole city.

Protip; read up on the arab spring from an agricultural viewpoint, and it all makes more sense as of why they rebelled. Those were all countries dependent on food imports, which drove prices up, due to foreign exporters need to increase profits.
