When I was young I lived in a pretty poor area so I was chased walking home at all hours of the day/night, mostly by abos.

Downtown is safe because it's so busy all the time.

There's nothing to worry about in the surrounding area, unless you go out of your way to provoke people. As long as you appear to be confident and have somewhere to be, even the homeless shouldn't bother you. It was even cozier where I used to live, which was basically one large horse farm. I used to take walks late at night when I couldn't sleep, and the only thing I really had to worry about was wild animals. The city still isn't too bad though.

I live in a shitty poor neighbourhood with a bad reputation, but teebeehaych it's fine. Calmed down a lot since the '90s. Local drunks don't really start shit besides singalongs. Some roaming pack of drunk muzzies might bother single young women for the "whorish" behaviour of walking alone at night, but I can't remember the last time that happened. Dunno if local young muslims wised up or if women just started paying for taxis instead.
