Because we developed our cultures under different influences. Polish latin fits better polish language than cyrilic. Polish latin was made by poles for poles. Instead of softening mark and "j+vowel" letters we use letter "i" and 3 sounds can be written in 2 different ways depending on the gramatical shift occuring in the word.
What is actually intresting is fact that Russians created polish cyrilic in XVIII century and it was just replacing latin characters with cyrylic ones with creation of respective new letters for sounds that doesn't appear natutally in russian one.

Why? Every single Pole is able to read all of the texts in polish language that has been ever ritten thanks to the fact that our language hadn't changed since the begining of the XVI century. I don't like the idea of writing those strange roofs over the letters, when we can just use diagraphs. If czech latin is so good, then why do you write your countries name with polish way? I'll tell you why. Because in the world dominated by english language, polish latin is far more superior because of new diactricts it uses combinations of letters naturally occuring in english alphabet. Also Jan Hus isn't a special persona in polish history. For us he is czech hero, czech martyr and one of the greatest czechs ever known to polish history. But he is less important than Jan Kochanowski- polish renesance artist, who had created polish latin.

The Z with dot that you use was invented by Hus as well. He only changed it to hook later because he thought is wasn't distinctive enough. And we don't use the alphabet invented by him because he's a special to us, but because it's superior. we have got:

It is almost the same because we have got diagraphs and we use letter "i" for sound softening whenever it is possible. So zi = ź or ci = ć.

it is not fully phonetic because we use a full set of soft and hard consonounts and we use them equally to mark the root of the word. Polish language can be written easily like japanese language is. Our language is so archaic that you can extract single morphems. F. e:
"jabłko" is the least phonetically written polish word of all. It is pronouced "japko" and it means "an apple". But we write it with "bł" part because an apple tree is called "jabłoń" and it is pronounce exactly the same.

You don't need the accent markers to speak Czech any more than you need them to speak English, but the Czechs decided on them anyway, while we eschewed them and now have 25 letters to their 35.

First of all you need to know that we have got 3 sounds that can be written in 2 ways.

Secondly polish doesn't use combinations of voiced and devoiced sounds standing together and devoices voiced sounds that are standing alone on the end of the word.
Thirdly, the most significant time of polish development took place in the same time Gutenberg invented printing, so all of the fonts were using german alphabet. So whenever it is possible you use letter "i" instead of diactric mark which you would have to add manually.
And the last thing and most important as well. It had never been told to use this kind of writing, yet everyone was using it. It was simply created by a "free market", people have used it because it was working.

I think Czechs don't use torrent as much as they use a website called uloz.to which has basically anything you need from movies to ebooks in Czech. There is one tracker called http://cztorrent.net/ but it's a bit complicated as you need to deal with ratio.

Romance languages tend to use a largely unaltered version of the alphabet used in Classical Latin with a few Medieval elements (essentially the distinction between the U and V, I and J pairs, which come from different forms already present in Majuscule and Minuscule).
