Nah, I've heard Americans speaking Russian and the main problem they had was their "r" sound, but even this is only a matter of practice. Slavic phonetics isn't that hard, it's grammar that makes our languages a pain in the ass for foreigners.

Czech and Slovak sound like a 5 year old girl speaking Slovene/Croatian/Serbian
Poles sound like a Croat/Slovene/Serb after a dental appointment and four new fillings
Bulgarians sound like a Croat/Slovene/Serb who got hit by a brick and had to regain his speech skills, still suffering with words
Macedonians are salvable, but still an ameliorated stage of the Bulgarian recoveree

This can be applied to every word with more than 1 syllable. Russian has free stress which is never represented in writing. The more syllables a word has, the less chances you have to guess the right stress.

Plus there's also "e" which may sometimes be pronounced with a hard consonant before it in borrowings and a couple of cases like "кoнeчнo" and "лoшaдeй", but that's less relevant.

Both the Latin and the Cyrillic alphabets are just variations of the Greek alphabet (which is itself a variation of the Phoenician alphabet), so obviously they share symbols.

Too bad the Glagolic didn't catch on.

My high-school teacher told me this dumb shit 15 years ago and I still use it when I have to distinguish between AM and PM.

Fraktur is a printing, or how you call it. A kind of writing wich was meant to be printed, or to be written as caligraphy, but not as a real handwriting. It is also shown in the pic under the latin letters.

You'd be surprised how many Russian expats live here, especially in Gent and Antwerpen.

My last two gfs were Russian expats. One of them worked as a translator and even she always mixed up short and long vowels (she chose long vowels as standard). She used to sms me quick questions on how to spell a certain word
>>
>>70870279
Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian are more similar to each other, like 99.5%, than Dutch and Flemish m8, pls.

If we take them as standard, we can name every local dialect here a separate language. And we have a lot (and very different) dialects even though we're a small country.
>>
>>70835437

The soft consonants I think are harder for English people because they don't have a proper "j" sound. In Norway "j" is pronounced like the beginning of Я and Ю. Might be more easy for us to insert in literally every fucking sound you make. But reducing vowels isn't hard, it's just learning when to do it which would be part of grammar (or w/e) and not pronounciation.

Both Sinitic and Slavic languages lack articles AFAIK, but for the very opposite reasons, Chinese has less declensions than even English.

English sounds more retarded when literally translated into Slovak.
