My experience with muslims in the Netherlands:

We have mostly Moroccans and Turks here, 1 million muslims in total (out of 17.5 million).

I personally only know a few Moroccans and one muslim from Suriname. Muslims in my country tend to not integrate in our society and stick to their own culture. Even a lot of Moroccans and Turks who are BORN in the Netherlands consider themselves not to be Dutch but Moroccans and Turks, who happen to have a Dutch passport. They generally don't have Dutch friends. However, it's important to know that the level of integration / adaption to western culture varies among individuals. I know several inter-cultural marriages (Dutch guy married to half-Moroccan woman, Dutch woman married to Turk, Dutch guy married to Senegalese woman). I know some very friendly and well-integrated hard working Moroccans. I also know one non-integrated, very annoying and islamic-conservative muslim.
We have islamic primary schools. We also have mixed schools and there's a lot of tensions at those schools; teachers can't talk about subjects that are "sensitive" for muslims like same-sex marriage or islamic terrorism. Their parents have a low participation in school life. I think in like 80% of Turkish and Moroccan household they speak Moroccan and Turks instead of Dutch. A lot of them have a satellite on their roof and never watch Dutch tv, only mahgreb/sandcamel/Erdogan propaganda TV.

So it's mixed but the overall picture is quite problematic. I do find comfort in the few examples that are doing very well.

My opinion, and feel free to disagree, is if you choose to live in another country, you should strive to become a part of that country. If I choose to live in Australia, I should become an Australian. I should raise my kids as Australians, with an English first name, send them to school with other Australian kids, teach them Australian culture and history, make them and myself as Australian as possible. This is exactly what Dutch and German and Scandinavian immigrants did who went to Australia/NZ/Canada/America in the past.

I'm a white guy that converted to Islam for several years. The people were all right, but the majority of them are cultural Muslims (it's even worse than cultural Christianity in the west).

The women are just like western women. They sleep around and then get married. The only people that take most of Islam seriously is the older generation.

I got a couple of guys at the mosque that wanted me to marry their daughters, but this was around the time I converted to Catholicism.

This has been my journey: atheist -> Muslim -> Roman Catholic

I was raised as an atheist, but I got interested in the Abrahamic God while getting my undergraduate degree. I looked into Islam, started attending a mosque, made some Muslim friends and stayed in that for 3 years.

Some of the Muslim friends I made left the religion over the years and they really got me to examine Islam deeper. It was only then that I realized this religion revolves around a copypasta of Christianity/Judaism/Arabic paganism. Muhammad was a smart guy for getting so many followers, but he can't be a prophet.

A girl from my med school invited me to church and I never looked back. Going to mass fulfills something that going to a mosque never did. The Eucharist is something that I look forward to each week and I truly found God.

Eastern Orthodoxy is a viable option, as well. Both churches have valid apostolic succession.

Judaism is pretty unique actually. The creation story was written as a deliberate opposition to the Mesopotamian mythology.
