Anime originated in Japan. Japan is arguably the most technological country on Earth.

Outside Japan, anime is popular mostly in the United States and Western Europe, both of these are also highly developed, wealthy and technological. Hence, 90% of animecons outside Japan are held in either the US or the EU.

There are some weebs in Latin America and Southeast Asia, but practically no anime in Sub-saharan Africa.

Why is there a correlation between the prosperity of a nation and anime?

Is anime the key to the development of a country?
