No, they are both used frequently and have different meanings. Even though it is grammatically correct now, most people will think you're an idiot if you use literally in a non-literal context.

Basically is a buffer word you put in front of important things you're about to say in order to get the person's attention before going forward and saying the words you need them to hear.

I was gonna say good catch but no, just realized it's an example of a different phenomenon. It's one of those things that the society collectively decides is bad and annoying and that hordes of people do it, then makes it into a meme, and then it gets to a stage where for every case of it happening there's a thousand cases of people being fucking crybabies about it.

Additional info: it's also a really good illustration of what prescriptivism vs. descriptivism is about if you have to explain it to someone, never thought of that before. Judging by how prescriptivism almost always loses in the end (and thank Allah for that), prepare your asses for "literally" having two opposite meanings by next generation or the one after it at most :^)
