American citizens are paying $12 - $15 Billion To Build Trump's Wall

Mexico will never ever ever pay for the wall
>>
b-b-but muh 1% tarrif!
>>
According to Dutch researchers non western migrants cost the Netherlands 8 billion a year in tax money.
>>
that sounds a lot cheaper than i thought
>>
>>70421433
America wasted trillions on the Iraq war, this is nothing compared to that
>>
>>70421750
it doesn't stop immigrants
it's "suppose" to stop illegal immigrants that "hop" across

Yesterday Mexico threatened to cancel the meeting if Trump doesn't stop talking about them paying for a wall

Today Trump is now panicking and trying to act like a tough guy trying to blackmail Mexico over twitter

You literally cannot make this shit up
>>
>>70421433
War in Irak (useless war) = 6 trillion
Wall = 15 billion

It's fucking notjing
>>
>>70421792

yea instead of spending money on more border agents, cameras, drones, making it harder for illegals to work, etc, lets build a 2000 mile wall. I'm sure it will stop illegals more efficiently.

Wow. This childish man is the face of America. Well, I guess it's not all that surprising.

The Iraq war didn't cost that much did it?
surely this is counting a lot of military expenditure that would be spent even in peacetime like wages right?
>>
>>70421900
That makes no sense. Maybe you mean guarding the wall will cost more because you have to pay the guards?
>>
>>70421850
kek at all the amerifats unironically believe this is "based" or something
>>
>>70421433
Are planes supposed to crash with the wall or how is this going to stop Mexican immigration?
>>
>>70421824
Most illegal immigrants are just a result of people overstaying their visas. Actual "illegal" immigration is usually done through tunnels or smuggling anyway. Like the wall will change that.
>>
>>70422032
In 2013 it was more than 2 trillion, the 6 trillion is the burden of borrowing interest and pensions to veterans.

>>
>>70421915
Why can't you do both?

ICE just stated that they detained 40,000 illegals crossing the border in December.

>>70422453
¿Que? Eso no es importante. Las Trumpistas poderán imponer una tarifa de todos los exportaciones de Mexico.

Si impondría la tarifa, Trump recibirá su dinero.

majority of the illegals are not lone mexicans walking along across ungarded wasteland as the romantic telling go
they are central/south americans who rely on for feel for the traffickers, they obviously cannot be stopped by a measly concrete wall

>>
>>70423351
You have to go back.
>>
>Assume project costs $15 billion

>Charge Mexicans $10 to cross the border.

>Going by 2013 figures, 14 million journeys from Mexico through to the US border occurred.

15,000,000,000 divided by (14,000,000 x $10)

= 107 years to pay off.

and that's JUST with fees for crossing. if they implement other trade tariffs, the number of people crossing increases, or the price increases, they will do it sooner.

even if they got nothing it would still be worth it.
>>
We have a name for the wall.

We call it the tortilla curtain. It was thin flimsy and the mexicans ate right through it
>>
Someone will be paid to do it

we'll probably take it out of Mexico's foreign aid fund lel

Remittance payments from illegals are usually sent via Western Union or similar services. Illegal Mexicans can just send bitcoins to Mexico and avoid taxes. There's no way to block it.

>>
>>70422648
How do they have numbers for those who enter illegally dipshit?
>>
>>70423514
MIT put the cost of a real and effective wall (50' tall 10' of it underground steel reinforced concrete) at $40 billion. Obviously the fence will cost much less, closer to Trump's estimated $12 billion, but he just signed for 5,000 additional border guards and tripling the size of US Customs & Immigration, plus a lot of increased authority, and what amounts to the "deputisation" of local law enforcement agencies to help in the fight. It will be extremely expensive.

Having said that, this money is chump change compared to what is spent on the US military and will do a lot more to secure America on a day to day basis.
>>
>>70423879
Along with expanding our military, trade war with china.

Quite a lot of money being thrown around.
>>
>>70423954
This is one reason a lot of Republicans find him so unpalatable. He may have (recent) socially right wing politics, but he is fiscally a crypto-liberal and that bothers paleo-cons and libertarian types.
Having said that, most on the right support some infrastructure projects that America desperately needs, the wall will just be the biggest and most publicised of these.
>>
>>70421850
Why is this allowed. There's a reason every country has a foreign relations office. This guy is going to isolate america to a further degree
>>
>>70424209
That's what he and many of his supporters want, a new American isolationist movement, support towards that end was basically the entirety of his inaugural address.

It's going to be a border tax so the US consumer will foot it I guess.

Most illegals arrive via work permits them stay so it won't really do anything anyway.

>>70423809
>More like Berlin Wall 2.0,
Well then they don't understand history since that was to keep people in and this is to keep people out.
>>
>>70421433
And there is no number about how such project will actually cost. Trump said that it would cost 8 to 12 billion but knowing his preference for "alternative facts" we can be pretty sure that he has no idea.

Some engineers have calculated 8 billion for a metallic fence. Trump wants a 30 feet tall, 30 feet under concrete wall so maybe that's going to cost like 40 billion.

But of course, Mexico will pay for it. If you define Mexico as people (some of them Americans) that are working in the USA, in American companies, making products and services consumed by Americans, paid with American dollars that other Americans earned.
>>
>>70425917
We need to keep Mexicans in to work the jobs we don't want to.
