Is your country a real democracy with more than 2 viable parties to choose from?

Americans, Russians and British need not reply.

The Libertarian party might just have been able to pull off a presidency if they didn't go full retard over Trump. With increasingly shitty choices for president in current elections, third party votes have increased, just these third parties are AIDS tier

Dumb oligarchy posters
>>
>>70408210
Not really. We basically end up with the "choice" of a bunch of cunts with very similar pandering to baby boomers and answering to Murdoch, etc.
I suppose the Greens, which are getting more of a foothold, are somewhat different. Although they're platform seems to be getting more and more like the two main parties as the years go by.
>>
>>70408210
Labour are currently unelectable so yeah the Conservatives will win easily in 2020. The Liberal Democrats aren't worthwhile either. UKIP should change their image now, make it the Libertarian Party or something.
>>
>>70409511
Stalin should've nuked you
>>
there's currently 6 parties in parliament
>>
>>70409640
The people who support UKIP are far from libertarian. They're poor white working class that have conservative social values and want to control many aspects of your life.
>>
>>70410113
Whatever it is they're gonna have to change their image at some point anyway.
>>
>>70408210
Nope. Whatever we vote we end up with a "purple cabinet" and non-mainstream parties are entirely sidelined regardless of how many votes they get.

Like in the days of the Republic, we're still an oligarchy.

issue is that all the parties keep disbanding or getting into government and then stepping down for their retardation thus creating technical governments.

Not really. We have Labor Party & the Liberal-National Coalition (Liberal Party & National Party). Coalition is basically right-lite + complete corporate dick-sucking and Labor is centre-right + autism. Though Labor is vastly better, both are fucked and I would like to see many other parties getting attention. It's just that these are basically the only perceived options by most of the population and many of the more popular alternatives are just as bad if not worse (*ahem* greens). Our overall political system is okay though, it's not so absolute as some others.
>>
>>70411077

The Labour party members like him. That's why he got elected twice.
A considerable amount of Labour party members are under the illusion that they represent the working class, despite being very middle class.

Plebs as in the working class aren't a huge fan of him because during the Brexit campaigning, he was for Bremain whereas a lot of the working class wanted Brexit.

Top down:
SDP: the "socialist" party. Currently in opposition. Sometimes was joked to be as the most right wing party in parliament
CEN: "Central" party. Rural Finland first. Party of the current PM.
NCP: Tries to sell itself as pro busines. Obviously right wing. Also in government atm and the party of the current president.
Greens: Green. Anti nuclear, etc.
FINNS: Populist party. The third partt in government. Sometimes said to be alt-right, but is more varied than that. Rose into the realm and over the traditional parties in popularity before last election, but the refugee crisis has eaten it badly.
LEFT: More old school socialists. Sometimes accused to be left behind times.
SPP: Fenno-swede party. Has been part of government in almost every election cycle for decades, because they have few demands other than keeping the swedish in schools etc. And thus has been an easy partner to fill up the roster.
CD: Christ Demograts.Very conservative abd religious.
>>
>>70415557
Italian politics were easier when it was only DC vs PCI. Now there's a lot of coalitions and weird political parties
>>
>>70415726
It was easier even before 2013. It was just Berlusconi vs the left. That's why the proportional system has stuck for so long.

The fuck is real democracy anyway?
The way I see it, there is always a party who have the most votes, they just create a coalition with another one and they have the majority and do whatever the fuck they want ignoring other 30% of votes.
Democracy is a myth.

What the fuck is wrong with our society for not wanting a strong leader? It is very natural, to have a leader of a "tribe" who takes care of all this shit.
Goddamn, just take the best candidates and let the people decide who wins, then he will rule the country for 5 or whatever years without being interrupted, just let this man do his fucking thing in order to secure the well-being of the citizens, thats all. Nobody needs to be interested in politics except for the actual election, in the time between elections just let the man rule and see how it goes.
One wise person ruling is much better than some fucking parliament made of people who will never agree on a decision and will always half-ass everything with compromises.

Kekkonen is a pretty good example of that. We needed leadership who could play both sides and keep us diplomatically and otherwise independent. And he did exactly that, for 30 years.

>>
>>70417965
No, it actually did. Holodomor went like this:
>Ukrainian village, people grow plants and animals to eat like thousand of years before
>suddenly Russian communists come and say "ok, now you have to pay taxes, 90% of your whole food possession has to be given away to feed our big country, resist and we will hang you"
>some people resist
>communists just come and take whatever they want killing everyone who dares to protest
>as a result regular people have nothing to eat
>starvation till death

Don't try to spin it as a positive thing. Kekkonen was a soviet appeaser because the other option was what happened to czechoslovakia and estonia. With free trade with western countries this country would have been sweden tier by the 70's instead of a poor agrarian shithole.
