I had high expectations and still didn't think things would be this sweet. Expect things to go into maximum overdrive once Sessions is confirmed in about 2 weeks.

>Sessions as Attorney General

>2 years later

>Police Humvee accidentally rolls over your vehicle

>An officer in full military fatigue and a "blue lives matter" logo walks down the ladder of his oversized humvee

>"Sorry citizen, but I will need to fine you for that broken headlight. If you're unable to pay the $500 fine, you'll be violently restrained and sent to the local private prison"

>You receive a ticket and as you do so the officer smacks you on the head with his elongated night stick

>"Citizen, you're resisting arrest! Why aren't you wearing your assigned Donald Trump made-in-Mexico patriotic armband!?"

>Bruised badly by the attack, you are given an additional fine for $1000.

>You limp away to a nearby private hospital where your care is rejected on "pre-existing" conditions.

You've always been oligarchic. Taft and Roosevelt did a great job combatting the most obscene things. But since the 80s it's been downhill in this regard.

In the same sense that Germany is, yes.

Nah man, our tradition of Socialism is much stronger. In fact we were at its very forefront. Bismarck introduced universal healthcare and pensions in the 19th fucking century at a time when John D. Rockefeller was blowing up competitor's property with dynamite to further his business interests.

>Nah man, our tradition of Socialism is much stronger
That means fuck all when actual socialist partys have become essentially irrelevant in modern Germany. How long has the CDU been in power again?
>Bismarck introduced universal healthcare and pensions in the 19th fucking century
Yeah, in order to combat the power socialists and prevent an uprising from breaking out ala the Paris Commune. Bismarck himself despised socialists and banned them from meeting and organizing 35 years before McCarthy ever held a position in the US. This isn't even mentioning the influence of the Krupp family on German politics that influenced the idealogy of German militarism.
>>
>>70398241
Germans conservatives are much more social democratic (often referred to as socialism) than even most liberals in America, at least on economic issues.
>>
>>70398347
They aren't socialist though, which is the point

>>
>>70398241
>That means fuck all when actual socialist partys have become essentially irrelevant in modern Germany. How long has the CDU been in power again?
You do realize that the govern together in a grand coalition with the social democrats and that they have covered centrist topics, which in Germany includes socialist policies, yes?

>Yeah, in order to combat the power socialists and prevent an uprising from breaking out ala the Paris Commune. Bismarck himself despised socialists and banned them from meeting and organizing 35 years before McCarthy ever held a position in the US.
Yes, and what does that have to do with oligarchy? Oligarchy is the rule of a money elite for their own gains. Regardless of Bismarcks motivations his policies lead to massive redistribution of wealth from the rich to the poor.

>This isn't even mentioning the influence of the Krupp family on German politics that influenced the idealogy of German militarism.
Tell me more.
>>
>>70398241
Also German healthcare isn't even socialized in the same sense as the NHS or even Medicaid is in the US and Britain. The system is much different and the government pays for them to have private insurers cover them.
>>
>>70396253
Then every country should be downgraded according to their reasoning given
>>
>>70398547
>You do realize that the govern together in a grand coalition with the social democrats and that they have covered centrist topics
Cool, like literally ever country that isn't a single party state.
>Yes, and what does that have to do with oligarchy?
He was curbing the political rights of the working class in order to solidify the power of the Prussian elite, how is that NOT oligarchy?
>Oligarchy is the rule of a money elite for their own gains.
That's not at all what it means, that's Kleptocracy.
>Regardless of Bismarcks motivations his policies lead to massive redistribution of wealth from the rich to the poor.

Cool, just like most industrialized countries over the 20th century. It's not like wealth inequality was something only Germany could tackle. The US has a whole era in its history where wealth inequality was a primary concern just like it is today (the Progressive era).
>Tell me more.
It's complicated, Krupp basically was the steel conglomerate that held a lot of power over the German government to the point that it often influenced German policy in foreign countries. They worked almost symbiotically with the German military up to and including WWII, when it was broken apart and nowadays doesn't hold nearly as much power as it used to, though the family still has some influence as a political dynasty in Modern German politics
>>
So, they first ignore all the scandals of the last 15 years where republicans and democrats shit on the constitution and now after Trump is elected it's a flawed democracy.
>>

>Cool, like literally ever country that isn't a single party state.
lol, what do you know about other countries' politics?

>He was curbing the political rights of the working class
By fulfilling their demands, rrright.

>in order to solidify the power of the Prussian elite, how is that NOT oligarchy?
That's is called aristocracy, you dense motherfucker.

>That's not at all what it means, that's Kleptocracy.
Yes, it's exactly what it means. Read Plato's Republic. Exercising political power for personal financial benefits is the defining trait of oligarchy.

>It's not like wealth inequality was something only Germany could tackle.
As I already said, it's something the US tackled with Taft and Roosevelt. But you've let it slip since and since the 80s it's been downhill. And yes, there's no comparison to Germany. You're an oligarchy again. We're not.

>They worked almost symbiotically with the German military up to and including WWII, when it was broken apart and nowadays doesn't hold nearly as much power as it used to, though the family still has some influence as a political dynasty in Modern German politics
Really? What laws did they influence in modern German politics?
Meanwhile, almost every member of your parliament is a millionaire, which leads to obscene stuff like silently repealing a law that prohibited members of Congress from using information gained from your intelligence services for personal financial benefits. In the wake of the NSA scandal! That's basically a license for inside trading. THAT's oligarchy.

Good night, I'm going to bed.
>>
>>70400340
>lol, what do you know about other countries' politics?
Quite a bit. What do you know about me personally?
>By fulfilling their demands, rrright.
They demanded to be repressed politically and excluded from the Bundestag? Or is "free shit" all that you consider 19th century socialists to care about?
>That's is called aristocracy, you dense motherfucker.
An entrenched aristocracy IS Oligarchy.
>Exercising political power for personal financial benefits is the defining trait of oligarch
Historically yes, literally it doesn't mean that at all. Idi Amins junta could be considered an oligarchy under that strict definition.
>But you've let it slip since and since the 80s it's been downhill.
How so? In absolute terms, median wealth and living conditions have never been higher in the US, same as Germany. It's also a fact that the modern German social welfare system is far stricter than it was in the past.
>And yes, there's no comparison to Germany. You're an oligarchy again. We're not.
Nothing you've said thus far has proven that to be the case.
>Really? What laws did they influence in modern German politics?
Price fixing, Protectionism, their own Lobby group in the EU on behalf of the steel industry etc.
>Meanwhile, almost every member of your parliament is a millionaire,
We don't have a parliament. I assume you mean the senate or the house? In which case you'd be false, it doesn't even reach half, though it does reach around 40%.

> which leads to obscene stuff like silently repealing a law that prohibited members of Congress from using information gained from your intelligence services for personal financial benefits.
That law was reinstated after the fact. Need I remind you that the EU commission is made up of some of the wealthiest people in Europe?
