For many people here central europe is only Austria, Switzerland and Germany. This is from the cold war era but it sticks in peoples heads somehow.

Germany's Central European character died with Prussia, they have far more in common with countries like Belgium and Denmark today. An argument can still be made for Austria.

The border between Eastern and Western Europe lies between Poland ang Germany. Central Europe is a myth.
