Anyone live near the Geneva area? I am planning on applying for a fellowship at CERN after finishing my masters. But I am wondering whether I will be okay only speaking English, or if I should start studying French to prepare.
got tons of japanese friends doing ATLAS but no one is fluent in french

>Study French regardless.
You mean regardless of whether I'm going there or not? Why?

It's a nice language to learn and you'll have an easier time getting around.

But I'm already studying Japanese, I don't know how many more languages I can fit in there

Move along, then.

You don't want to live in Switzerland without speaking either french or german. Believe me Anon.
Geneva is a pretty international city but not speaking the local language will make you a prisoner of the expat bubble.

You can easily get Buy only knowing english and basic french. But it's always niger if you sprak the local language
Also, p'tit palace is the best club, regardless of what people say
