The governor-general appoints and dismisses the PM, so he's not actually elected by the people, although the GG generally will appoint/dismiss him based on the opinion of the House of Commons. This populist, anti-globalist sentiment that led to Trump was in the political waters for a very long time. Buchanan and Perot's campaigns in '92 were the first outward manifestation of it, and that was even before Clinton had signed NAFTA. Lee Iaccoca was saying almost the same things as Trump as far back as the 80s. It disappeared for a while in the late 90s-early 2000s (when a booming economy and then everyone being more worried about Mudslimes took center stage), but resurfaced in 08 with Ron Paul's campaign.

This isn't the 90's anymore, America has competition now. Countries can tell the US to fuck off and get investments from other countries. The US became so prosperous because we realized that you get more with honey than you do with vinegar.

There's a lot of potential in third world "shitholes". In 1990, emerging markets made up 1/3 of global GDP. Today, they make up half of it. Our companies would like access to half of the worlds market in terms of purchasing power. Alienating those countries isn't going to work out well for us, especially when they won't always be third world shitholes.

Wow, really intellectual terms you're using. I'm sure you've been researching this for a long time and have a nuanced understanding of the issue.

They were A LOT poorer 40 years ago.

>Do you even understand rudimentary economics? One million dirt farmers in Africa who have no electricity or indoor plumbing are not going to buy a Mercedes or a 60" TV.
Nobody farms dirt. They farm crops. And urbanization is quickly increasing the amount of Africans who have electricity and indoor plumbing. The US also doesn't just sell Mercedes and 60" TVs. We sell cheaper products, that Africans do consume. Why do you want to cut jobs for Americans who would manufacture those goods and services?

>Can't want something that doesn't exist.
Where is your business degree? How did you become such an expert on what a good investment is and isn't?

>>70240867
It's a good thing we become more efficient with our resources every day, and people become more productive because of technology. They aren't breeding like rabbits in Africa, their birthrate is decreasing. The population is growing because they aren't dying as early, because they have raised their own living standards. They raised their own living standards by becoming more productive.

I'm talking about energy consumption specifically. My claim is based on evidence not argumentum ad verecundiam. I already posted oil consumption maps. Africa consumes oil at a rate 50-100x less per capita than western countries. You cannot increase oil extraction so that sub-Sahara matches Canada.

>Shipping over the ocean is super fucking cheap. And Africa is close to Europe, North and South America, and Asia

Africa has more landlocked countries than anywhere but Central Asia. Most of Africa's major rivers (for example the Congo River) are also not useful for navigation or shipping goods down. The climate and poor agricultural potential of the continent resulted in Africans generally being adverse to risk-taking.

Another factor is that the place is swarming with dangerous wildlife. For example, a herd of elephants can decimate a farmer's entire crop and you can't exactly drive them away. More likely they'll drive you away.
>>
>>70241486
>>70241515

Think this:
>shitholes develop
>demand for precious resources goes through the roof
>the price for them increases drastically
>bringing a bunch of rocks from space now profitable

And freighter ships are also quite efficient per kg transported btw. If oil prices go up after shitholes start demanding it, companies will probably just cover them with solar panels, or even reactors and keep on working that way.
>>

>So is Australia and North America

Big problem with that. Humans originally evolved _in_ Africa, which means all the local fauna evolved to see us as threats, so they're quite hostile and dangerous, which is not the case with European fauna which evolved in the absence of humans. For example, it was not a problem to tame the horse, the zebra is totally untamable.

And then tropical diseases, which also evolved with humans, are a major factor as well. Sickle cell anemia, a malady the black race is prone to, was apparently an evolutionary means of protection from malaria, but an unreliable one that can backfire and kill you.

Africans are also notoriously sexually promiscuous and do not have a strong belief in a family structure, because the harshness of life meant that many children died before reaching adulthood, and it was an advantage to have large litters of children. As for the lack of a family structure, the tropical soil in Africa is thin and easy for women to plow, a man was not as necessary to have around for performing heavy-duty farming tasks like in Europe where the soils are thicker.

Blacks in America are still like this, they believe in pump-and-dump and kids being raised by single mothers, because of the cultural baggage their ancestors brought over here.

Although Siberians and Inuit are of the Mongoloid race, they have only inhabited the sub-Arctic for about 10,000 years, not long enough for evolution to catch up. The Mongoloid (ie. For example, it was not a problem to tame the horse, the zebra is totally untamable.

Partially true, but Africa also has more large predators than any other continent, which meant that animals evolved to have a more aggressive temperament than than fauna elsewhere.

I'm not making shit up because it was told by chink classmates and teachers that I've met irl. They don't wash their bum with water, just a few good, dry toilet paper and smear the dry shit all over the underwear and buttocks. Not to mention the "pieces" entangled to the hairy clams and butt. They never tell you this if you don't ask them directly with a straight face. When other asi(e)an use water to wash bum, they use rewash cotton towel and toilet paper.

Oh, yeah, I remember reading about gold synthesis. It apparently the cost for it was far above the market price. However this only reinforces my point:

>have expensive method to extract/synthesize rare elements
>developing countries start increasingly demanding them
>prices go up
>that alchemy witchcraft now turns profitable
>no more scarcity

Capitalism, literally creating gold out of radiation. Either that, or find the next best substitute.

>it doesn't have good agricultural potential

Tropical/subtropical areas in general aren't good for farming compared to temperate regions. I live in Georgia and I can tell you, the agricultural productivity of the Deep South is lousy compared to Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, etc. The summer weather down here is brutal on most plants.

Mississippi and Louisiana are a little better due to being well-watered, but in general the South is a poor place for producing food.

One reason for the higher intelligence of Europeans and Asians vis-a-vis Africans may be that we cross-bred with Neanderthals and Denisovans and gained an extra genetic advantage from it. It could be that the black African represents humankind in a more pure, ancestral (read: dumb) form.

Check Israel. They supply something like 90% of their food demands, quite similar to most big scale agricultural countries, since there are stuff like chocolate and coffee that will only grow on certain regions. And half their territory is desert with little drinkable water

Australia's wildlife differs a lot more from African wildlife than European fauna does, and didn't evolve around humans either, yet aborigines were totally unable to develop any civilization before European contact.
>>
>>70242522
I think it has more to do with the fact that Europeans and Asians lived in temperate climates and probably interbred with Neanderthals. Africans and Australian aborigines did not.
>>
>>70242559
Aboriginals DO have neanderthal admixture though.
>>
Let's look at Australia:

1. There's no large predators there because the aborigines quickly hunted them to extinction. The last ones were wiped out more than 10,000 years ago.
2. No large herbivores like elephants or wildebeests to devastate crops
3. No disease issues

Yet, aborigines still remained way more backwards than even Africans.

It would appear that after humans moved north out of Africa, they went to central Eurasia. At some point, the white and East Asian races split off from each other (probably 22,000 years ago). Some of the Asians then crossed into the Americas and became the ancestors of Amerindians. Other whites and Asians went back south and settled in India and China.

The ancient Egyptians considered the black peoples to the south of them a different race, and most Egyptian art shows them as being fair-featured and having reddish-brown hair. Although they did not look exactly like Europeans, they were also definitely not black and their facial features were closer to the white race.

Ancient Egyptians are something of a mystery, perhaps some offshoot of the Semitic peoples or a group descended from some African population, but in any case they were definitely not of the same race as black Africans and their genetic pool was largely inundated by invasions, which is why modern Egyptians are basically just Arabs with probably little to no connection with Ahmenhotep and Ramesses.

>Ancient Egyptians are something of a mystery
The drawings they left behind and the genetic evidence suggests ancient Egyptians looked pretty much exactly the same as modern Egyptians. The only way this "changed" was when Egypt's borders expanded, like today they legitimately do have a black minority in the south. Those people identify as Egyptian.

Here's the trick. Most grain crops such as wheat and barley are indigenous to Eurasia and the Middle East. It was easy for agriculture to start there. Unfortunately, Africa lacks crops suitable for large scale cultivation. They mostly lived on beans and yams which aren't so good for that.

Europe and the Middle East had barley and wheat, East Asia had rice and millet, and Mesoamericans had corn. But Africans had no cereal crops, nor can you grow them there thanks to the climate.

Major contributors to MoveOn.org during the 2004 election cycle included financier George Soros who gave US$1.46 million to MoveOn.org Voter Fund; Peter B. Lewis, chief executive of the Progressive Corp., who gave US$500,000 to MoveOn.org Voter Fund.[29]

Fox News criticized the organization after it successfully encouraged the 2008 Democratic presidential candidates not to attend two debates sponsored by the network. Fox News advisor David Rhodes and the network's commentators Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly have also made accusations that MoveOn.org "owns" the Democratic Party and George Soros owns MoveOn.org.[32][33]

And Australia was even worse as far as food crops. The aboriginals were just hunter gatherers and never attempted farming at all.

The reason why Mesoamerica developed advanced cultures and other Amerindians didn't can again be traced to the food supply. They had corn in Mexico and potatoes in the Andes.

Is it true that most Africans live together and have kids before formally getting married because there's a tradition where if you get divorced, the father gets to keep the children, but if you separate before getting married, the mother keeps the children? I heard that's true for Gabon and the same source said it was common in much of Africa.

This was also true, because the West supported decolonialism and the Soviets because they told the Africans that whites were the exploiter class and to drive them off the land.

>Rhodesia was doing okay in the sense of self sustaining agriculturaly.
All the productive land went to the whites, the land blacks lived on was at like 3 times the carrying capacity under white rule. Even if white rule was still in place, Rhodesia couldn't have fed everybody.

Accounts of Greek and Roman writers indicate ancient Egyptians as being swarthy, but not at all negroid.
>>
Yeah the lack of domesticable animals was definitely a problem for Africans, because all the fauna there evolved to see humans as a competitor/predator/prey species. Result: Zebras, elephants, wildebeests, hippos, all extremely fierce and totally un-tameable. Europeans and Asians meanwhile domesticated the large herds of horses and camels in Eurasia, which became beasts of burden.

The horse and camel actually originated in the Americas, then crossed the Bering Straits into Eurasia, and eventually some of them found their way to Africa to evolve into the zebra. However, they vanished from the Americas due to hunting from humans and climate changes. The llama and alpaca are the two surviving American relatives of the camel.

According to the UN Food and Agriculture organization, you need 0.5 hectares to feed one person with a fairly good quality diet. About 7 times less if they go with a strict vegetarian diet.
And according to this paper:
http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1300/J064v10n04_07
16% of the African continent has high quality soils. Assuming you use modern techniques, like the Israelis do, or the ones the ICRISAT promotes, you can feed two thirds of the population of Africa already. And also feed a little more people with the other 80% of the land.

That paper also says it; the few countries that practice agriculture are taking no input from developed nations on that sense. Africa definitely has lots of room for improvement and development
