Are you doing a business Phd or MSci? If not, then a faculty's aggregate research citations should be entirely irrelevant to your school choice.

Business is about going into business and starting businesses. If you're doing an HBA/BBA/BComm or an MBA, then you want to go to a school which gets you a good placement, or prepares you for entrepreneurship. Ivey and Queens do just that.

If you want to get a job in banking, for example, then you go to Ivey because it has the highest placements in the area. Good luck selling your biz school to employers because something like Maclean's Magazine said it had a high research ranking.

I chose UWO undergrad instead of Trinity College res at U of T because my sister (who went to Victoria College at U of T) hated the experience and said the school was full of the type of student who would sabotage their roommates study notes to get a slightly higher mark in an introductory psychology class.

If you're looking to work in Canada, or do further academia in Canada, then the good party schools will fulfill that purpose quite nicely and a student from, say, U of T, will get no added advantage except perhaps in very narrow fields where they're a power gap ahead (ex. computer science, I think?).

This much (which you didn't state before), I agree with. But I don't consider UofT/McGill/UBC to belong in some sort of ranking above the other schools. As I alluded to before, unless you're in very specific programs (ex. U of T Law), or a masters program (where U of T/McGill/UBC clean up, I believe), there is no notable benefit from attending UofT as opposed to Western/Queens/UofA.

There is no "ivy league" of Canada. There are maybe 10 "quite good" schools, and then there are another 10 "somewhat good" schools, and then there are other decent options and some lesser options.

I got a job at an investment bank (I'm in med school now, but that's another story entirely) thanks to my degree. That's what I was after, and the program provided me with that opportunity. I feel I made the right decision for what I thought I wanted do with my life. I may have been scammed into thinking that lifestyle was desirable, or maybe it was my own fault for not realizing what truly made me happy at the time.

But in any event, I don't regret my decision, and I also appreciated the two AEO years pre-Ivey I spent just enjoying life before entering the school.

Start with those career tests, and try to investigate those career paths more thoroughly. Ideally, you want to understand (not ranked in any order of priority), (i) salaries, (ii) hours, (iii) day-to-day activities (the real picture, not the rosy vision of it), (iv) how much of a social impact you make on society and how much that means to you, (v) career advancement and/or pivot opportunities if you grow tired of it, (vi) skills involved, and whether you have them or can develop them.

Even if there's a career which seems out of reach which interests you (ex. game development, male porn star, etc.), look into how people make the jump into that career and see how feasible it is. It might be easier than you're making it out to be, and your world doesn't have to be narrowed to the common standard list of jobs: doctor, dentist, lawyer, banker, consultant, etc... Most people have jobs outside of the standard list, and fell into them not immediately out of school, but after a couple career changes.

And remember that Law school is always an option (if you truly want to become a lawyer).
