Is the US actually militarily superior to China, Russia, etc. or is it just propaganda?
Yes, yes it is.
their superiority is mostly based on how much they spend and not how they use the equipment. Vietnam war is the biggest example of what the US military is

I guess that's true. Spending does not equate military expertise and tactics.

No it's an example of the limits of military when the goals and rules are set by politicians.

This is true, and yet they spend so much money on it. So much. 600 billion dollars a year. Even if they put retards in charge of their military, it's so much they spend on it. Even if their equipment and machinery isn't useful in most types of warfare, it's so much money.
Most objective standard of measurement is the amount of money each country spends on their military.
In 2016 americans spent 596 billion dollars on their military budget, 3.3% of GDP. Chinese spent 215 billion dollars, 1.9% of GDP. Russians spent 66.4 billion dollars, 5.4% of GDP.
Already you can see that russians are spending almost double relative to their GDP than americans or chinese but it's still only 1/9 of the entire military budget of the united states.
If americans increased their military budget to match the russians they'd be spending a trillion dollars per year, or 17 times more than the russians. It's not even fair to start comparing them.
The chinese on the other hand are clearly the only ones wrestling in the same weight class as the americans, but they are still not equal to the americans much less superior. This is do to technological difference which are much harder to quantify, but assuming the chinese started developing their military technology seriously 10-25 years ago americans are still leading them by decades. Sure it's always easier to play catch up when you can just steal and copy without having to do any of the innovation yourself, but at the moment americans are lightyears ahead of the PLA.

PLA will get better though. By the mid 20s they'll have 3 aircraft carriers and they're GDP has already surpassed ours but who knows how their budgets actually look.
>>69922247
Of course. They'll be more than a challenge for americans, but pretending that anyone else is even in the same league is just retarded.
