Thinking about a trip to Russia. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time, I've always wanted to see Red Square and see some old moskal architecture and maybe even see Lenin's body on display when they do that.
To what extent can I get around Moscow speaking only English? I'm going to learn as much Russian as I can before going but still, I've heard eastern Europe in general is not as English friendly as some other places
if you stick to big cities its not a problem, especially in Moscow or SP

Awesome, I only planned on staying in Moscow. Like I said, I will try to learn as much Russian as I can but I know it won't be enough.
I'm sure you'll have plenty of people who will be able to communicate with you one way or another
Sure, not a whole lot of people are fluent in the language, but you won't get lost for sure

Even in Moscow, only a few people speak English. Many can understand some basics, so you won't get completely lost, though. But I think you won't have troubles using public transport(all is duplicated in English) or going to museums/bars/restaurants. So there won't be any need for speaking to someone. It'll be good if you take some phrasebook for general stuff, though.

That's probably for the best in some ways desu. A lot of the European countries that have 90+ percent English speaking people are basically losing their native tongues.

it doesnt really happen anywhere in Europe, while people can speak English, its far from good, even in countries like Denmark or Netherlands most people cant express themselves as clearly as they would in their native language

When are you planning to come exactly? I can be your walkie-talkie :3
>>69841236
Agree, people usually have some delays when talking in English.

Every Russian knows English a little because it's taught in schools. Also you can register on vk and search something like "English club" communities (or facebook or any normie site with Russian audience) where people want to speak English with native speakers and even pay them to participate in their activities https://vk_dot_cc/65tQEi
They will willingly agree to accompany you and be free translators.

Better come in summer. Autumn or spring may be pretty shitty.

Planning it for June

Avoid girls also. Some of them can lead you into trap with criminal thugs.
