You have to understand that there's a difference between the Old Left (communists, soc-dems, trade unionists) and the New Left, which was born in the 1960s and is opposed to hierarchy and organisation.

My personal position is that people should be fit because a.) it's good for them personally and b.) obesity is a burden for public healthcare system. But I also don't think that mocking fat people for their weight is productive or ethical.
