I am a White, Christian, Southerner and I do not like or support Israel. But to answer your question, it is the idea that the jews are God's chosen people is the main idea. There are some people I know that will literally foam at the mouth if you criticize Israel in any way.
I haven't stepped foot in a church in over a decade and have no plan to. One doesn't need a church, or a blood sucking preacher to tell me how to live.
