Why are there so many threads about Estonia these days? I hope we stay irrelevant for our own good. Foreigners are usually treated quite well here. Estonia is a decent cunt: wages are low, but living cost is not too bad. People tend to keep for themselves but still have at least some sense of community. Nature is not Norway-tier, but still nice. Nobody likes the government, but it is neither Poland-tier nationalist or Sweden-tier left.

In terms of food and climate, I would recommend Hungary for a Mexican. In terms of crime rates Estonia wins hands down. I wouldn´t recommend Romania. It depends on where you live. I really love it here in the suburbs of Tallinn, because I can be skiing in a forest in 5 minutes and drinking in the Old Town with my mates in 40. The second biggest city Tartu is comfier tbqh. Tartu is to Tallinn what Gothenburg is to Stockholm. Everything else is just small towns.

To be honest, I'd move to Estonia in a heartbeat as it's a really nice and relatively unspoiled country (there are those Russians though) but I'd have to get used to living in a place that doesn't have many mountains.

The Russians are not that much of a problem. Young Russians growing up in Tallinn can usually hold a conversation in Estonian. The Eastern part is pretty much Russia, but they know that their lives are much better here than on the other side of the border. That's another reason why you can´t compare us to Ukraine.

St Petersburg and Tallinn have pretty much the same weather. Tartu is a little more continental so it´s not as rainy, warmer in the summer and colder in the winter. The difference is not big in such a tiny country but still.

I was in Tartu last February for a while and it was nice, pretty comfy but kind of dead for a student town. Granted that could have been because it was winter break or something, I don't know.

Tallin was amazing, I really liked its mix of old and new and the old town was well kept. Modern Art gallery was pretty cool too. Only problem for me was that I basically just heard Russian everywhere, even when some strangers wanted to ask me for directions or stuff like that, it seemed that 9 times out of 10 their question was in Russian.

Small villages were pretty shit looking, apart from some more touristy places like Oteppa.
