Meat pies are glorious. Too bad they're so rare here in America. I'm from Michigan so I can get them when I go up north to the UP, since there were lots of Cornish miners who settled up there, but otherwise you can't just go somewhere for a meat pie.

Deep fried pastry = dona rellena, churro relleno a quesadilla frita is always made with maize dough, it's not a pastry anymore than a gordita, quesadillas may be made with flour tortillas and while those may be grilled they're never fried. Maize products are not considered pastries in Mexico.
