Why do people from shitty British colonies say the word "Maths"?

We say Math as well and Mexican dubs in TV shows throughout my childhood used to say it as a plural, the bunch of faggots.

Let's take a simple one - buddy. The contraction of buddy (singular) is bud. The contraction of buddies (plural) is buds. Contracted plurals still maintain an element of plurality.
