As for your question, generals act as a containment thread for people to discuss their own culture in their own language. Even /brit/, as awful as it is, is still discussing British culture a lot of the time. The other threads are often discussing international affairs and culture too. Even the "banter" threads are a way of provoking discussion about an odd thing about a particular country; such as why Americans get shot so often or why Canada has such a ridiculous flag.

I passed recently and the second time round is better because you're less nervous, you know what to expect. I found staying calmer and chatting to the examiner helped.

That sounds awful, here it's just two tests, one theory one practical. Theory is 50 questions and a hazard perception test, practical is 40 mins of driving with a manoeuvre.
