Baja is mostly people from elsewhere in Mexico, the original inhabitants share a basic culture with Sonora and Sinaloa across the gulf (eg northern Baja has teams in la liga del Pacifico) their becoming independent would be utter bs not just because of this but because they strongly rely on food imports from the mainland (in southern Baja this is acute) so this is probably mostly deported chicanos and gringo expats roleplaying American tripe, native separatists would not dream of breaking up northeastern Mexico which also includes Durango and Chihuahua apart from the Pacifico region proper.
