Secondly, no they didn't. Most Europeans converted to Orthodox Christianity if they spoke Greek and Catholic Christianity if they spoke Latin. The Germans decided to collectively convert to Arian Christianity, but more as a cultural distinction from Rome.

All except for the Franks, who were directly convert from Paganism into Catholicism. The Franks went on to become the most successful European dynasty and led Catholicism domination of Western Europe.
