Can someone explain the difference between ш and щ?
Like, cyши is sushi, and бopщ is borsch. The sh and sch both sound the same, so what's the difference?
They don't sound the same though.

This video has it.
Look how your tongue must be.
>>68379994
they sound exactly the same to me
>>68380528
then you are a niemiec if you don't hear it lol, everybody west of Oder is pretty much a deaf person
>>68380528
When pronouncing щ your toungue has to touch the roof of your mouth more than when you pronounce ш
>>68380765
>>68380777
i watch the video and i heard no difference beetween the two letter. Maybe i'm deaf
>>68380777
>When pronouncing щ your toungue has to touch the roof
how do you that without sounding like a retard ?
>>68381026
*do
Ш sounds like you'd pronounce SHit.
Щ is SH and T so SHT.
Whats so hard about it?
>>68381026
By not being french
>>68380528
That is your personal problem m8
>>68381144
Why do you still need this letter if it doesn't even represent a separate sound in your language?
>>68381144
ш like in sheep
щ like in shit
>>68380528
You must be deaf then.
>>68381838
Are you fucking with us?
That's the same sound.
>>68381908
ok like ship and shit
>>68382086
Like sheet ans ship I'd say.
>ša is a letter of its own in Russian
that's just too weird
is that what your šč mutated into? I don't think Slavic languages other than Slovenian and Polish have retained the šč sound.

>ш

>>68382158
Russian is barely slavic at this point, you can't really compare our language with yours.
>>68379879
The first one is closer to "Sh"
The second is more like "Sh-ch"
>>68380036
> dem lips
>>68379879
In my opinion, ш is a typical "ch"/"sh", and щ is a soft "ch" like in german when you say "ich" for instance
>>68381286
> t. ц, ю, я...
Autistic thread
Ш is simply sh or š, as in ship, for example school - škola/schkola - Шкoлa.
Щ is Ш + ch/č (Ч) (as in cheater, cheetah), so shsch or šč. For example take sh from sheep and ch from cheater and you have Щ. Щ is literally шч.
>>68384876
>ц
It's an actual consonant:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voiceless_alveolar_affricate
>ю, я
Yeah, sure, adding 15 separate letters for the soft consonants would be a much better idea than that
>>68382908
>>68385021
>Щ is literally шч
It isn't. Your information is outdated for a couple of centuries
>>68385186
Then how is it? Because that's how my grandfather spoke when he was alive and it's how I know it.
>>68385241
Literally this:
>>68382248
>>68379879
i dont speak gommie sorry
>>68385281
Well I can't play it at work so I will clear it up when I get home
there is no difference russians are trolls
>>68385396
Щa кaк yeбy
Шиш oтcюдa
Щ = Шь
>>68385557
nope
Apparently it's still pronounced as ШЧ in Ukrainian and it's romanized as šč everywhere so I guess it depends who you really ask.
>>68385618
Why not? He wrote it exactly as you would say it in sheep.
>>68385722
>Why not?
Even though щ really is just soft [ш'] phonetically, it's never written written like "шь". "шь" and "ш" are both pronounced like [ш] in the Russian Cyrillic
>>68385784
Oh, I just thought that you mean it's not pronounced how he wrote it. Yeah I get it that it wouldn't be written like that.
>>68385784
what are you talking about? The "шь" doesn't sound like "щ". Шьyкa? Nope, it's a fucking щyкa!
>>68385784
>>68385976
Make up your minds
>>68386019
here the difference >>68382248
>mfw everyone in this thread knows the difference between Russian letters
>mfw Europeans and Americans start to learn glorious Russian language
>>68385976
>"шь" doesn't sound like "щ"
Where did I say that "шь" sounds like "щ"?
>>68386055
In that second file it sounds exactly like soft ш
>>68382248
same sound desu
