Can someone explain how age of consent laws work throughout different

I don't plan on ever doing anything like that. I like people my age or older, especially since I'm
[spoiler]a grill[/spoiler]. I'm just curious how this whole thing really works. Moreso in other countries. Are the same technicalities at work with close in age laws where a 18 year old could go with a 16 in some states as long as they remain less than 2 years apart as long as there is parental permission? That would explain why the age of consent in Spain was13 for so long and still is in Japan or why most of Europe is either 16 or 15.

I think it is , again, a technicality. I live in the North East and either everyone here is ignorant on what the age of consent is or that age of consent is still basically regarded as 18. In other words when we say "age of consent" what does that really mean? I'm just getting confused a bit and wondering if it is also this complicated in other countries?

Those aren't "technicalities". You can (to the best of my knowledge, I am not a lawyer and do NOT treat this as legal advice) in those states fuck a 16 year old even if you're 30, however taboo and creepy it is. HOWEVER, you can't transport a girl to a state with a lower age of consent to have sex with her for federal law.

Then why do people, even in my state in the North East have this idea that they will go to jail if they so much as look at a 17 year old? Seems strange.
