it was either slovenia or switzerland, which share some (mostly geographic and climatic) things in common, but are also both small countries

I would go to Switzerland if I were you to be honest. It has better opportunities to make it as a businessman and it's much richer. Yeah I guess there aren't many tourists here outside of a few major tourist attractions. Religion is dying here tho.

Probably because Ljubljana is trying to be a hipster capital where "alternative art" such as graffiti is tolerated. I don't think it's terrible though, I've seen much worse in Germany. Just stay out of Ljubljana if you want a peaceful rural life.

A lot of the country, especially Trump supporters, don't like the EU because it represents further globalism and the domination of many unique countries by Germany and France. I don't like it because it tries to treat other European countries who aren't in the EU as part of the EU with no say, as well as it causing all sorts of corrupt bureaucratic bullshit and refugee bullshit. I personally hope Italexit works so that the EU finally collapses/goes back to just being a free trade union with no political horseshit. Maybe a defensive pact but as a strong alliance between countries rather than a union.
