I did a bit of Japanese in my 17 year old phase. Then I moved to Korean and have fully invested in it with 3 books and I read and learn from them daily to improve my vocab, play all my games in the language and use google as it to help learn actual usage of it and premade phrases and terms

I dabbled in Chinese for a brief period and it's just hard in every aspect however a language takes dedication and drive no matter what, and if someone truly wants to learn it they can, that's true for any language. That's why I don't think it's fair to rank languages because one may be much harder for an English native, but at the end of the day the #1 reason people stop learning or fail to learn is their own laziness and disinterest

imo the difficulty of mandarin is not so different from both of those. i read japanese sentences written by mainlanders sometimes but their way of constructing japanese sounds far better and natural than japanese written by westerners, both grammatically and practically. it doesnt sound awkward in essence despite the fact they are the same normal (weeb) language learners on their own as those in the west. the same goes for korean japanese learners though. that proves mandarin isnt so far from japanese.
