>Angela Merkel, German chancellor, to stand for fourth term

>German Chancellor Angela Merkel has said she will run for a fourth term in office, members in her conservative party have said.

Germans if you vote this woman in again you are beyond redemption and Europe will be fucked.

There is literally no politican with enough of a backbone and enough of a supporters base to oppose her.

Thanks for your reeducation, allies.
>>

I dont get why people like you complain, our government was designed by the allies so that people like Merkel could continue to work for american interests and keeping the population powerless.

If we wouldve had our way we would still be a monarchy.
You hammered the scourge that is "democracy" into this continent, you now reap what you sow.

It is actually Germany's own fault, we manage to get our nationalists, the other Axis countries have strong nationalist parties around (Hungary for example). Germans just refuse to admit that they are the problem.

Daily reminder that Merkel is considered right-wing in Germany so cease your butthurt, Nigel.

I'd like to see a coalition of Social Democrats, Greens and The Left, but it seems like there's no alternative leader (maybe Martin Schultz would be willing to return to Germany).

>>
>>67644355
No, as >>67643474 said, the reeducation after WWII is the reason for the weak/non-existent nationalism in Germany.
Or how can you explain that the once militant Germany has become what it is now, when on the other
side shitholes like Poland or Hungary, who have no reason at all to be pround about anything have
successfull nationalistic movements?
>>
>>67644571
I have to add, that such things (reeducation) did not actually happen in the ex-Soviet states
>>
>>67644571
I do not think it is the case because other countries which suffered re-education programs such as Japan, Austria, every country which fell into the Communist bloc, still did not collapse in terms of nationalism like Germany did. Germany's turn towards what it is now is also in the people not the state, for example Helmut Kohl said he wanted to deport the Turks when he was PM, but he could not do it because he feared the backlash which would come from the German people.

>>67644636
They did.
>>
>>67644690
I say PM but I mean Chancellor, thinking in English terms.

Because austria is so powerless and irrelevant that even if it went full blown fascism it wouldnt amount to anything.
The only aim is to keep them from reuniting with germany which is where austrian nationalism becomes a helpfull tool.

There was no re-education in Japan. Anerican occupiers left the Emperor, imperial bureaucracy and old conservative politicians largely alone. A few war criminals were hanged, but that was it. They feared that Japan would fall to communism.

Japanese student movement in the 1960s was unsuccessful unlike the one in the West Germany.

Merkels 4th term and the next reich will be the 4th one, coincidence?
>>
>>67644900
There are not many. Germany's thankfully taken that responsibility on themselves. We don't have any leaders as brave as Angela Merkel. You'd never see that kind of brinkmanship or responsibility from Enda.
>>
>>67644967
No, they simply have no reason to care about Austria.
With the loss of its Doppelmonarchie and most of its territory its only a small province of germany.
If nationalism prevents them from joining germany then so be it.
That being said Austria got cucked out of way more of its rightfull clay than germany did lmao.

Not really.

Socialist government in the 1990s expressed regret about it, but their present nationalist government (LDP has been governing Japan almost without interruption since WWII, it's effectively a one-party state) is walking back even on this.

>>
>>67645166
Feb 9 2009 looks retarded kek.
>>
>>67644999
There was, it is why the Japanese are so pacifist now for example (only 11% say they would fight for their country according to polls), they left the institutions in tact but they undermined the societal constructions. So while the Emperor was the Emperor, he was no longer a God. While the bureaucrats still held a lot of power, they were now subject to the rules of the democratic state the Americans established. While conservative politicians were allowed to continue in office, they were not allowed to pursue conservative policies.

>>67645041
Yes. :^)

>>67645133
No, the LDP does not officially outright deny the crimes, it challenges details of them, eg. total numbers. The only major exception here is probably comfort women which it has a tendency to outright deny, but even then it is a split in the party.

>>67645099
Rightful clay is not so important when you are a small country because you end up a minority in your own state. South Tyrol would have been nice though.

>>67645186
Austria was divided into three and occupied, and then given independence after a deal between the Soviets and the West which made Austria a neutral state. So not as harsh because it was not as long lasting, but the same policy was there.
>>
>>67645261
Yes im sure China has issues with the chinese being the majority, fox and grapes.
>>
>>67645261
>Japanese are so pacifist now
>changes it's contitution in order to abandon the "defence-only military"
>>
>>67645314
Against the will of its own people, the LDP can only do that because the opposition in Japan is so ineffective that they can do unpopular policies and get away with it.

It would be like a German government coming to power and deporting migrants, it would be against the will of the German people in doing so.

>>67645311
China has huge numbers, it is not comparable to Austria.

>deporting migrants would be against the will of the German people
not true at all
>>
>>67645261
Japan didn't deal with its in a way that Germany did. They just buried under the carpet and never properly talked about it.

There was no need because unlike Germany, Japan could stay isolated from its victims. Immense trade and security connection with America shielded them from the need for reconciliation.

LDP might've had strong factions with different values, but that's not the case now. Shinzo Abe and 16 out of 20 members of his cabinet are members of nationalist, revisionist and State Shinto group - Nippon Kaigi. Nationalists are clearly a dominant force in the current LDP.

why do you even allow someone to run for more than 2 times, this is literally Africa tier

>>
>>67648258
As far as I know, parliamentary democracies have no term limits for Prime ministers or Chancellors, only for Presidents.

Prime Minister can remain in power as long as his or her government commands a majority in the parliament.
>>
>>67649153

well, you are going to see in first row why that is a bad thing
>>
>>67649436
Why? German Chancellor is much less powerful than your president. She is only a leader of government which is a collective body.
>>
>>67649510

She can't. You fell for /pol/ memes.

>>
>>67648258
The Chancellor isn't the head of the state, but the one with the power. The President don't have any power at all, but he can only run two times.
The eternal Kraut craves for a monarchy, that's why we don't limit the periods for the actual ruler. We'd probably still have Adenauer if he didn't die

Canada, Sweden, Britain, Italy all had Prime Ministers that served for a very long time. It's nothing unusual.

It's also not true that German President is completely powerless. He has pretty strong reserve powers.
