The old testament is still brough up by many Christians. Some of the most important elements of Christian theology is derived from the old testament. Think of the ruach hakodesh, the theme of original sin and the ten commandments.
Believe me the old testament is and has been one of the biggest focal points of Christianity.

My point is that both religions, islam and christianity, have some really horrible teachings. You can't say that THE focal point of islam is those things that you dislike. Muslims themselves cherry pick the teachings that they like and throw away those that they don't, what you might see as a focal point can be considered just a 'metaphor' by a religious person.

Islam itself really isn't more dangerous then any other religion. Fundamentalism is however more prevalent within the muslim community and as such these horrible teachings are amplified.

Most muslims I've met however cherry pick as much as any other regular Christian. They're harmless, even though their religion is dumb.
