improving, but most all of the jobs added to the market from 2008-2015 were McJobs without benefits.

in 2016 we're finally getting middle class jobs back, but I doubt this will last for long, because the student loan bubble is going to burst and there's probably going to be another housing bubble problem. a lot of baby boomers bought up properties cheap after the housing crash in ~2009 and have proceeded to rent them at high prices to millennials who are saddled with student debt (and cannot therefore afford a mortgage on an owned property).

it's a caustic cocktail that will eventually backfire. if it doesn't backfire in economic terms, it will backfire in demographic terms, as the earliest millennials will be able to afford children is in their late 30s, long past prime childbearing age. this will fuck social security and every other sort of demographically-linked welfare. and simultaneously, when millennials are in their late 30s, boomers will finally be dead, opening up middle management and upper level positions.

at jobs they can't take, because they're busy raising kids.

fuck this goddamn country, seriously

I'm kind of lost in life right now

Mostly work problems but I have been offered plenty of solid opportunities but have decided to stay at my current company mostly from complacency and comfort. I received another call today and this one is different I can't go to into it on here, but this would pay me a lot more and the job sounds a lot more like what I want to eventually be doing. I am currently a dedicated engineer to multiple clients and I usually work over 10 hours in a day and only get paid for 8 hours of work, [salaried and I don't make anything close to the market rate right now] 60k, for this job and it just isn't worth it anymore.

Decided to talk to the other company and we'll see what they say, I am interested in moving on but I would prefer to wait until January, however, this offer sitting on my table now is a lot better than what I currently do. I could stay making 15-20k less at my current company but be the lead senior engineer or I could move to another company for a specialist role, and see where that takes me...

>>67545062
thanks germoney
>>
Well when there are an abundance of university graduates without work and people don't want to work "lower end jobs", there's a big clash there.
>>
>>67545007
So, can you speak french?
>>
>>67543259
bretty good for college graduates.
>>
>>67545110
You should get the higher paid job and look ahead, it is bad when companies dont appreciate the value of their workers. I'm in finance and will start a few businesses soon.
>>
>>67543259
Extremely bad. We have unemployed engineers, economists and other academics. Especially humanists majors have tremendous difficulties in finding employment. The refugee crisis brought us some jobs because we needed lots of people to work with the refugees. But those jobs were paid with debt money.

Situation isn't improving and the government is trying to get more part time jobs. Which sucks. More and more people are living on subsidies and grants because the aren't jobs. Which creates a cycle of public debt in order to finance all these social services.

Oh and our population is rapidly aging but the companies aren't going to hire new workers. Only secure jobs are military officers and medical workers. Funny fact, not even police graduates are guaranteed a job. Lower rank soldier jobs are way too scarce and lots of people I know would love to work for the Defence Force but as usuall, there are no job openings coming. Even the fucking armed forces doesn't want to hire former, motivated conscripts anymore.
>>
>>67545118
you are welcome brudi
>>
>>67545133
Only the Irish elite can speak French.
>>
Quite shitty. Lots of unemployed people.
>>
>Northern Ireland
>Pretty shite
>>
>>67545263
Sounds like Canada lmao

Our finance minister recently came out and said we should get used to an economy of part time temporary jobs
>>
>>67543259
Meh

A little worse than 86-90, 1996-2001, or 2006-2007.
>>
>>67545380
Part time temporary jobs would be okey, but the costs of living are way too damn high for that. Rents are astronomical and sales tax is ridiculous(24%). I just can't see how this system could work, especially when the maximum subsidized living and rent grant has become the minimum rent level in Finland.

Oh and I earn 40k a year and I pay over 10 000 in taxes. Sometimes I feel like that why the fuck do I work?
>>
>>67543259
>nationally
ok
>provincially
terrible
>regionally
ok

st. john's here, it could be better but the city's pretty much on par with national employment levels
combine that with houses a third of the cost in cities west of NB and im feelin pretty comfy
>>
>>67545198
Probably won't go with it, I don't feel like I am qualified for this position and I will let them know this is not something I do on a daily basis but a position I would like to see myself in the next two years. If they agree, I'll be more than happy to look at their offer, but making 20k more right now isn't the main goal in life right now. Honestly, I am highly needed in my current role, but they wont pay even 15k more, lol well we will see when I bring it up..'

>>67545309
There's a lot of jobs in Canada for French speakers/Spanish speakers, Don't make me explain and discuss this on here but its true, if you speak French you can get a job in many parts of Canada

>>67545485
I'm at 60k now, and I pay over 15k in taxes

>>67545263
What kind of engineers? I usually work with many countries in Europe, Asia, Mexico and Brazil, I also have a meetings with many of our clients and the time zone difference is a fucking killer, Try having a meeting with a client/dept in Australia, England or Tokyo, while living in the US, another thing that sucks is finding the time to get together I am forced to go to these meetings because someone in Europe decided it would be comfortable for them, lol they don't even care how hard we work in the US...
>>
>>67545485
Job situation could also be due to the countries tax rates and company policies, We have been opening up numerous operations in a few countries in Europe, Asia and the US, Honestly the cheaper we can open a business/dept in another country the better for the whole company, its tough as fuck to form a new branch in another country, you have to think about contracts, upper management in that country and later on hiring on full time staff. Running a big business is fucking horror, Sometimes I won't hear from a client for a while and I'll think they might not be that busy so they don't need to contact me, kek that isn't the case at all, they are always busy and have shit to work on, hire new staff, and plan/rent/and have qualified employees. You work for an american company, we want the best we can get in Europe..
