Why do Americans not know what the Constitution says?

This goes for people on the right and left wings of politics.

These on-going protests are completely constitutional under the first amendment yet all I hear from the conservative side is how they should be acting like cry-babies.

These protesters, excluding the rioters, are only exercising their first amendment rights.

I always hear people on the right saying we need to protect this amendment yet now they seem to be discouraging it. What the fuck?

not many people are denying their constitutional right to protest
there is no constitutional right to riot, resist arrest, vandalize, etc.
also you can act like a crybaby and still follow the constitution. That doesn't make you correct, or admirable, or worth listening to
2/10 bait harder next time
>>
>>67509960
Because when you chimp out and start destroying private property, you've taken it a little too far. I'm surprised they didn't teach you this in your liberal arts class, libshit.
>>
>>67509960

The right to protest is fine, they have the right to show it, show what they think....but I also have the right to call them bitches just because they didn't get their way.

Oh no, people are free to protest. They're wrong to protest a democratic election, but they're allowed to do so anyway.
Looting, destroying property, and assault can fuck right off though.
>>
>>67509960
Is it their constitutional right to take a shit on people's cars?
>>
>>67510156
I believe that one is left up to the states to decide for themselves.
>>
>>67509960
No one's disputing that these people have the right to whine, they're just saying that they're whiney.

The constitution is a meme.

According to the constitution of the USA you can basically smoke weed in front of everybody but in real life you can't

>According to the constitution of the USA you can basically smoke weed in front of everybody but in real life you can't
No; the constitution doesn't allow you to break constitutional laws.
>>
A constitution should just set out how a nation works. The US constitution is retarded, having a whole pile of vague rights that get re-interpreted into law by non-elected officials in the supreme court every few years. What's the point of even having a parliament in this case?
>>
>>67509960
The constitution's important, but it's not the paragon of virtue that people say it is. It's a piece of paper drawn up by slave owners more than 200 years ago. People just use this shit to promote their agendas.
>>
>>67510827
Are you retarded?
>>
>>67510788
The US constitution's main role is indeed setting out how the country works, by laying down the structure of the three branches of government, who gets to run and vote for which offices, states' rights, etc. The rights of citizens are inherent in that insofar as they limit what the Government can do, and thus also decide how the nation works.

>>67510827
This to a large extent, though. As much as it's the paramount law in the US, given that ~99% of laws are constitutional anyway it has relatively little day-to-day importance.
>>
>>67510788
Well, somebody had to make a post-enlightenment government, or else everybody would just stick with stupid monarchies forever.
>>
>>67510788
The US Constitution is a great document. It's ensure that the US is the only country in the world where you will always have the right to own a gun and be able to speak your mind without fearing arrest.

There is an English Bill of Rights that allows for every Englishman to own a gun. Look how that's turned out.

"Right to keep and bear arms" and "Shall not be infringed" are the most important parts.
>>
>>67509960
How is anyone denying their protest by calling them crybabies.
>>
Rioting =\= protesting
>>
>>67509960
They have every right to be cry-babies so long as they don't destroy people's properties and endanger third parties.

The US Constitution is a vague set of principles. The UC Code is the actual law.

Strict constructionists BTFO.
