What are some big construction/infrastructure projects in your area, int? Seattle is digging a tunnel to replace an elevated road that will probably collapse in a big quake. But the tunnel boring machine got stuck for two years after hitting a large metal pipe.
The project was supposed to be finished by late 2015; it is now scheduled to be complete in early 2019.
The cost of the project was supposed to be $4.25 billion, but the delays have added another $250 million to the price.

The current road barely survived a 6.8 quake in 2001. It is not expected to survive a stronger quake. It will collapse like the elevated expressways in Japan in 1995.

This is probably the biggest
Beltway, enlargement of tram infrastructure, new road to the new airport, a lot of new roads and neighbourhood small beltways, new marinas and ports(so that you can sail from lake to lake), tering down and building 2 new train stations, creating a 3rd one as well. There's a lot going on for like few years now.

Commuter train tunnel to offload the "Wasp's Waist", where half of Sweden's trains get crammed onto two tracks.
The blue metro line will get its south half after 40 years, offload the green line aswell.

Speaking of tunnels, there's still the Crossrail going on here.
>Crossrail is a 118-kilometre (73-mile) railway line under development in London and the home counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Essex. The central section and a large portion of the line, between Paddington in central London and Abbey Wood in the south-east, are due to open in December 2018; at that time the service will be named the Elizabeth line
>The project was approved in 2007 and construction began in 2009 on the central section of the line – a new tunnel through central London – and connections to existing lines that will become part of Crossrail. It is one of Europe's largest railway and infrastructure construction projects.

A lot of new stations will be built as well as renovation of old ones. Around £14bn.

Crossrail seems like a very ambitious project. NYC has been gradually adding another subway line on the east side of Manhattan (the 2nd Avenue Subway), but it has been incredibly slow and expensive.
"Phase 1" will open in December, but the other parts are years away.

It is. There's sometimes inches to spare for tunnels going underneath walkways and existing stations.
