Abrahamic religions are inherently unsustainable; the notions of a hell, there only being one God, faith in that God mattering for eternal life, etc., mean they're much more vulnerable to exposure from people with other belif systems, who obviously aren't all terrible people destined to go to hell; the result is that you have to weaken your religious beliefs in order to seriously be a part of the world

The Protestant reformation was basically the final nail in the coffin; considering now that your neighbors could be from essentially a different religion instead of having to venture a long way away, religion became a bit of a joke

We've been secular for over 100 years now, yet we have been miserable for most of those years. Because of that we still are very much religious, even if a bit less than we used to be 100 years ago.
