Every country has a big cultural weakness. For example, I would say Australians have a very paternalistic, risk aversion streak in our culture, which means people will only invest in anything that has basically no risk (property) while allowing the Government to run rough shot with extreme nanny-state policies. There are some first-gen people who try to separate themselves i.e. "I'm Chinese, not American" but even if they give a shit about their home country their kids won't. Every single person is invested in the country regardless of where they come from, so we can support a much larger, more diverse group without breaking.
It's also why immigration is a fundamentally different issue in America than in Europe. In Europe, immigrants literally don't fit in the culture they end up in, and they put enormous strain on society. In USA, our biggest issue is that we need immigration reform to get more people to come here legally, rather than trying to outstay their visa or whatever. But we have relatively little problem incorporating immigrants into our society once they arrive.
