Cool, I've heard that Basketball is the most popular of American sports, no? I know it's played at the olympics and quite a few top NBA players come from Europe

"American Football" is never played outside of Europe really, but you do have Rugby which is essentially American Football on Steroids. People are generally more aggressive but don't wear much in the way of protective gear, various rules are different, like you can only throw the ball backwards rather than forward, It's played in the UK and Ireland, France, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and a few other places.

Basketball isn't particularly popular here or in the UK anyway, but it's played quite a bit in schools for some reason, but it's definitely not a US-exclusive sport.

There are sports similar to baseball around, including cricket, in schools something extremely similar to baseball is played called rounders, but it's rules are very vague and no one can really agree on them.

I knew about Basketball, but not the others. I am also Canadian though if it makes you feel any better.

Here people are expected to join a sports club outside of school. Although most sports are touched during gym lessons (PE).

It's football here. Rugby, softball, volleyball. Basically everything that UK has, we have it here too.

That's why we played it as kids. It was usually the girls who pushed to play it, all boys only wanted to play football
