I don't believe that an invasion is going to happen but it's a popular sentiment that "the Russians are coming!!11!" because of the past.

Because Russia considers the Baltic countries as a part of their defence zone.

The land on the border of western Russian is basically flat plains which makes it hard for Russia to defend their population centers.

This problem was solved by both the Russian empire and the USSR by expanding westward so they could fight and stop the enemy before they reached their population centers.

So it is only natural for the Baltic countries to be worried about Russia.

It goes pretty much like this: There are USSR leftovers in Baltic states, and most of them are russian. Given dwarfies trend of "Le we must protect russians in all countries", that creates a little nervous situation.
Also, Baltic states actively throw all soviet heritage left in thrashbin, and dwarfie seems to be offended by that. Average russians too, despite soviet fucking them for a few generations straight.
What funny is that here in Azerbaijan we took everything left from soviets and threw it to pit of oblivion, also government pretty clearly said all russians here "fug you, no russian for you" and still dwarfie is not offended.
