I have this saved on a notepad, just so i don't have to waste my time with your stupid games.

>Brazil’s Secretariat of Strategic Affairs last defined “middle class” in 2012 as anyone living in a household with per capita income of R$291-R$1,019 ($99-$347) per month, although definitions vary slightly across the country’s institutions.
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/70f8b4c4-d3e0-11e4-99bd-00144feab7de.html

>One friend of mine, from a favela in Rio, complains bitterly that she and her family are now considered ‘middle class’ while they face exclusion, hardship, and even open prejudice and racism every single day. The government is right to include her in the demographic middle class. But she’s also very right.
http://frombrazil.blogfolha.uol.com.br/2013/03/22/what-is-middle-class/

>The document, produced by the Presidential Office of Strategic Affairs, sets a per capita monthly income of 291 reais ($75) as the threshold for middle class status.
http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/lifestyle/2012/09/20/brazil-middle-class-swells-as-35-mn-climb-out-poverty/

>The very notion of middle class in Brazil is quite different from the standards of North America and Western Europe.
>Instead, the term is used broadly to include almost anyone able to pay rent, put food on the table and perhaps pay a monthly installment on the refrigerator, microwave or television that Brazil's government often touts as a sign of their emergence. The so-called "Classe C," the bottom rung of Brazil's middle class, earns as little as 1730 reais a month, about $430, and, unlike the much-smaller upper middle class, relies largely on public transportation, health services and schools.

>>
>>67262479

Either CIA is lying or these countries don't have so many self-haters who love to talk shit about their own country.
>>
>>67262479
>>67262645
Doesn't matter which one you use, these are all reported by each country's government, in Brazil's case it's IBGE that sent these numbers to Worldbank and CIAfactbook. Or do you seriously think CIA employs people to calculate wage and cost of living of EVERY country on earth and apply the American poverty line to all of them to create that list. They don't give a fuck about Brazil's existence.

Each country has the right to set their own poverty line because some countries like Brazil and Azerbaijan are poor, therefore they shouldn't set the bar too high, if you can have two meals a day and a bed to sleep, you're middle class. Now wealthy countries like Spain and USA have the bar set really high because they're high achievement countries where anybody can achieve anything.
>>
>>67263132
I don't know how CIA calculated it but if you go purely by income rate then Brazil still has 9%, slightly lower than Mexico with 10%.

I think you are just seriously overestimating the amount of poor people in Brazil because of your obvious bias.

If we apply the US poverty line to Brazil, around 70% of Brazilians live below the US poverty line, ok. That's an absolutely abysmal number.

But the truth is that at the end of the day, for you it makes no difference. You're still sitting in your 1 million dollar mansion regardless if Brazil has 1 or 100 million people starving or not.

>>67263559
Again, i'll say this one more time. EACH country define their own poverty line. You can't compare these numbers because in some countries the poverty line is earning less than 20k dollars a year while in others like Brazil, it's earning less than 2k a year.

There is no such calculation. The only list your numbers fit are the "less than 3 dollars a day" list. And honestly, if someone is living on less than 3 dollars a day, they're not poor, they're on the verge of death. If 9% of the Brazilian population is living on less than 3 dollars a day, this country is absolutely fucked beyond repair, that's nearly TWENTY MILLION people living on less than THREE DOLLARS A DAY. That's more than the entire Syrian population and i will not even mention that more people die in Brazil than in the Syrian war.

The situation in Brazil is actually much worse than i thought.
>>

>>67265611
I'm not ignoring them, I'm just saying that you can't use absolute numbers to compare a big country with a big population to a small one like Syria, that's why I'm using percentages which make more sense in this case.

This is defined by the country and not internationally. Each country has its method of calculating poverty. Argentina had 5% of poor and with the Macri government jumped to 30%

We studied Curitiba's public transport system and affordable housing initiatives in Geography. Seems pretty cosy for a big city

Really? That's so cool.
The mayor who created the BRT was a fucking genius too, there are some interesting stories about his mandate.

At my last job, I was making the equivalent of 4200 reais a month. Where would that put me in terms of class? Upper middle?
>>
>>67266596
Average salary is a bit above R$2200, upper middle sounds about right.

What job was it?

inb4 Mcdonalds

A Mcdonalds employee earning more than Brazilian college graduates, that would be hilarious.

You're close; it was at Jimmy John's, which is a fast food place that only makes sub sandwiches. It's extremely popular, but the food is rather overpriced for what it is.

Also all the bosses were cokeheads which made things hilarious.

Exchange rates aren't a good way to compare purchasing power, especially since our currency is so weak lately.
I believe a McDonald's job here would give a minimum salary which is R$1130 in my state.
>>

I suppose I should mention that I was making that much money working about 35 hours a week at $11/hour. Taxes took like 1/4 of the money I made every paycheck, shit sucked.

The Amerikanski still can buy the basic Iphone for 400 dollars, you have to pay 3000 Reais(800 dollars) for it. This alone should remind you of the shithole you're living in. If he earns four times more than you but pays half the price for all electronics, he basically earns 8 times more than you.

Once Trump make America great again, he will be earning 16 times more than you.

Yes, our tax rates for imported goods are really terrible.
