I know one guy who graduated at SNU with master's degree and unexpectedly got a job in the ship building field. He told me he is expected to learn Norwegian before coming and after visiting. But they speak really good English he said.

Well, nothing we do is even close to what you have in the USA, but if you're looking for Norway specific industries, then offshore work, assuming the oil industry gets back on track, or fishing. Other than that, the rest is just half assed and/or small scale compared to its American counterparts.

If you mean our cuisine, it's pretty bland. If you mean quality of fresh ingredients, it's pretty good in the major cities in the southern half. For example, Oslo has plenty of exotic fresh ingredients (but probably tasteless compared to what you get in California for example), while Bod⌀, from what I experienced, is piss poor in comparison with lots of rotten fruit and vegetables.

But people really should learn the language pretty fast, and this is much harder for americans and brits, since they usually only know one language, which makes it harder to learn another. And by knowing english, there's less of an incentive to properly learn a new language, since everyone already understands them.

Also you must know Norwegian and English at a professional level. I didn't know Norwegian so immediately had 0 job opportunity.
Even if you have the qualifications above, you must be First- a nordic, or second - European. You are neither, and unless your name is Jan Bjorssen your CV (resume) will just be brushed aside. Even if your name sounds Swedish you're a second class citizen since by now they are used to Swedes serving them food in restaurants.

cold, dark, really quiet. Summer is only around 70 degrees, you can forget about enjoying any part of winter unless you have a 75%+ wool sweater (around 100 dollars), a scarf, and a jacket+hat combination at the minimum. Their saying is there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.

More about life: No one really gives a fuck about you unless you're already friends, and to be friends you would have had to go to school with them. It's nearly impossible meeting new Norwegians unless you are forced to (living sutiation or work). The most friendly Norwegians are actually Swedes there for temp work

Getting an apartment room is an application process with references and interview.
