It's not that hard, but there's no use in knowing it

Spanish is definitely more useful. i don't know if it's harder to learn than French. We have a fuckton of annoying exceptions that don't make sense.

Learn French if you're interested in literature or the language itself.

You're a German, the obvious choice if French. Everybody in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany... studies Spanish because it's sexy and exotic, but French is much more useful for a European. Unless there is any reason to assume you will need Spanish, you had better pick French.
