>build an innovative warship equipped with a state of the art gun system
>can't afford ammo because it works out to be fucking $800,000 per round
JUST
>>
>800,000USD per round
Have they even tested it properly?
>>

>It takes 400 thousand dollars to fire this weapon for twelve seconds.
>>
luckily with Japan's population density they only need 10 bullets and Mexico is paying for it
>>
Heavy Weapons Guy would be proud.
>>
DDX is the Duke Nukem Forever of the military world, except DNF actually came out.

>can't afford ammo because it works out to be fucking $800,000 per round
that's nothing to our military budget tho
>>

>US forced to import bullets from Israel as troops use 250,000 for every rebel killed

Afghanistan, 2005.
Better start aiming that $800,000 per round cannon better than you've been so far with your small arms.
>>
>>67197134
Yeah it's GPS guided and it was supossed to cost only 50 000 per round but since they only ordered three of the warships instead of 30 the price got that high
>>
>>67197104
wasnt the whole point of making that railgun cos it was way cheaper then missles?
wtf
>>
>>67197104

how the fuck can it cost 800k a piece ?
is it made out of some jew magic ?
>>
>>67202107
even so, $800000 for a round would be a tad rip-off
>>
Most of america army is there not to be used, but to deter others. So why even bother.
>>
>>67197104
$400,000 per round and $ 400,000 per pallet. The $ 800,000 is a meme figure. You get multiple pallets per round and you'll only need to buy pallets one time.
>>
>>67203418
Yeah because 400k per pop is a lot more reasonable
>>
>>67203492
It's basiclly a missile fired from a gun. It's the 1/4 the price of a cruise missile which it's supposed to replaces for shore bombardment from a certain range. Also remember the US orignally planned for 32 zumwalts not 3 before they changed their mind and went wihth Burke Flight III, so economies of scale never kicked in for the price.

>mfw an enemy consisting of many rowboats would bankrupt the us economy

Okay /balt/, you have to pick:
>Option 1. A battleship that costs $800000 to fire
>Option 2. A battleship that runs on a coal powered steam engine

Keep in mind, those are the world leading empire options, anything else is subpar.

>innovative gun system
>GUN system
>GUN
>2016
Jeeesus Christ, it's a fucking GUN in 2016 being innovative on a military ship. And correct me if I'm wrong but Zumvalt carries less actual rockets than older american cruisers. It just seems like a huge corruption hoax.
>>
>>67204037
It's mazut actually, not coal.
>>
>>67203928
we have more than one ship you low brow "comedian"

>It has the radar profile of a 15m ship
>80 cells, each larger than those found on existing missile destroyers
>designed with the intent of future installation of a railgun
>able to fire one course-correcting munition over 96km with pinpoint accuracy in order to evade missile defence systems every 6 seconds.

Pretty based desu. It's meant to be used to barrage a target without any possibility of them intercepting the munition.
>>
>stealth

Women hide unbelievable things beneath their underwear, I am pretty sure that counts as stealth
>>
thats a pretty big gun
>>

>96km
That's where you can stop reading actually.
