Was anybody else here completely unaware that Japan still had an emperor until this guy announced he might abdicate?

No, and he really has a nice face
>>67141584
No, it's a well-know fact that Japan has an emperor, but it's true that you don't see him often in the news.
I just don't think about Japan that much desu.
In Japan, we see him on TV news once or twice in an every week.
He works very well. So almost of Japanese support him.
>>67141584
He's considered a god among men. Too bad he's also part Korean lmao.
>>67141584
Does he even have any real power beyond smile and waving at events? I thought the prime minister of japan had the real political power.

He literally admitted it himself. The imperial line is forever tainted.
>>67141584
Emperor in a cucked country, Japanese have weird sense of humour.
>>67143402
tainted->blessed

He is the son of Amaterasu

not at all, he (125th emperor) just tried to be polite to show some affinity due to the world cup 2002 jointly held by japan and korea. the sole ground for that is that the 50th emperor's mother (in the 8th century) was a concubine of korean descent whose ancestor was sent to japan as a royal hostage some 200 years before, while only paternal line matters in japanese imperial lineage and legitimacy. saying he's part korean is way worse than american's muh heritage thing as i don't think americans will be doing that in 1500 years.
