On some shittier channels in the early days of cable we had the option for voicing over Spanish dubs. So you had 3 moments: when the guy opened his mouth, when you started hearing the Spanish before it faded out, and when the Portuguese stepped in, since documentaries and educational shows counted as children's programs.
Nowadays we just use English and subtitles for everything except the narrator, since we can get 2 audio channels in the same Iberian satellite/cable distribution.
