It should depend on context, if you're talking specs display is more appropiate, if you're using it to edit video monitor is more appropiate, if you hook up an adaptor to use it as a tv screen is better.

It really makes no fucking difference but the small nuances are there if you're feeling pretentious.

Monitor for the whole thing, screen for the part that actually shines. Display for the concept: you can have a non-screen display like a projector (even though that uses it's own kind of screen), hence I only really use it to mention it from a software context.
